This phone number is for an Eden Prairie, Minnesota based company called CPC, however, this is a phone number they use in NJ to throw off people they are harassing in NJ. I assume they do this with a variety of phone numbers all over the US. CPC is a debt-buyer of credit card debt from companies that have no legal right to collect a false debt. They are not the creditor themselves. They make a business out of buying credit card balances that are falsely inflicted on the consumer, such as fraud purchases, or problems with returned items, or refunds that were not complete, etc. The creditor knows they don’t have a leg to stand on, so they can’t legally go after the consumer by filing the debt for collection. So what they do is sell the debt to CPC. CPC will buy the debt after they check out the consumer’s credit standing and find they are a good risk and pay their debts as agreed---so for the most part, these are NOT deadbeats this company goes after. But somehow a problem ensued which can happen, and the consumer will challenge the debt with their credit card company and demand an investigation. For whatever reasons, the consumer may have returned the item but didn’t get the proper credit, and so forth. So now the credit card company is all mad and wants to be vindictive and won’t just charge off the loss. So they try to sell the debt to CPC acting like the debt can be collected, which it can’t because the credit card company never got the money in the first place but just wants to pawn it off on someone else and at least recover something, even though they don't deserve it. It goes on and on. Don’t pick up the phone whenever they call. If you do, they will be relentless because then they think they have found the debtor in the right location with the right phone number. If you don't answer the phone, they eventually will go away, but will be persistent in the meantime.....Do yourself a favor, get yourself a call blocker device for your phone. It works. Even though these types of companies start to use other phone numbers to throw you off, you can hit the block on every number. They can't go on forever getting new numbers. It's impossible.
